Category F Residence Permit

Who may apply?
Only persons who do not intend to work, in the Republic of Cyprus can apply for the obtainment of category F residence permit. It is very important to note that holders of this kind of permit, are not entitled to work in the Republic.
What are the criteria?
The applicant should have in its possession a secured annual income, high enough to allow for a decent living in Cyprus, without having to engage in any business, trade or profession. This income may derive from pensions, dividends, deposits, rents, etc.
The annual income required is of the amount of, at least, EUR 10,000 for a single applicant and moreover, at least, EUR 5,000 for every dependent person. However, the Immigration Control Board may, at its discretion, demand additional amounts if considered to be necessary.
All of the amounts mentioned above should be proven that have been transferred to the Republic legally from abroad.
Can the permit be revoked?
Following the permit’s issuance, in case that the holder is residing out of the Republic of Cyprus and has failed to move to the Republic, within a year from the application’s approval, the permit will be automatically cancelled. It will also be cancelled if the holder acquires permanent residence abroad or is absent from the Republic of Cyprus for a period of two years.
What documentation is required?
- Copy of the applicant’s valid passport;
- Copy of the applicant’s valid temporary residence permit;
- Original bank accounts statements of the applicant;
- Original documentation regarding the sources of the applicant’s income (other than employment);
- Original declaration of the applicant (affidavit) regarding the sources of its income (other than employment);
- Original or true copy of the applicant’s title deed or rental agreement (in case that the title deed has not been obtained yet, the applicant should submit the sale and purchase agreement for the property as well as proof of its payment);
- Copy of the certificate of the applicant’s health insurance;
- Original certificate of clean criminal record of the applicant;
- Copy of the applicant’s marriage certificate;
- Copies of the children’s, of the applicant, birth certificates.
All public documents which are being issued abroad must:
- Bear official translation in Greek or English by the Press and Information Office (P.I.O.) of the Republic of Cyprus, the Embassy/ Consulate of the applicant or by a Governmental Department of the applicant’s country.
- Be duly certified:
- either by the APOSTILLE seal in case that the country has signed the Hague Convention of 1961;
- either in case that the country has not signed the Hague Convention of 1961, by a seal from the Ministry of External Affairs of the applicant’s country as well as a seal from the Embassy/ Consulate of the Republic of Cyprus in that country, either by a seal from the Ministry of External Affairs of the applicant’s country as well as a seal from the Embassy/ Consulate of the applicant’s country in the Republic of Cyprus and then to be additionally certified by a seal from the Ministry of External Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus.
In case that the country has not signed the Hague Convention of 1961 and has not an Embassy/ Consulate of the Republic of Cyprus, the documents should be certified by a seal from the Ministry of External Affairs of the applicant’s country and after that from the closest Embassy/ Consulate which is accredited in the Republic of Cyprus.
